Online divorce: new service launched in Diia

In life, difficult decisions sometimes have to be made. At such moments, it is important that public services do not create additional complications. Spouses without joint minor children can now submit an application for dissolution of marriage remotely in the Diia app — without visiting a Civil Status Registration (DRACS) office and without paper documents.

How does it work?

One spouse creates the application for dissolution of marriage in Diia, and the other receives a request for confirmation, which they have 12 hours to accept. After this, both parties must confirm mutual consent using Diia.Signature. Next, the system automatically verifies all data against the registers.

Thirty days after the application is submitted, the marriage will be dissolved. During this time, the application can be withdrawn, but no later than four hours before the start of the video conference.

Important: the service can only be used with the consent of both spouses and provided that the couple has no joint minor children.

The option to apply in person to a DRACS office remains available.

The cost of the service is 2,872 hryvnias. It is paid in full by the initiator during the application submission.

The service in Diia was developed by the Ministry of Digital Transformation jointly with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, State Enterprise 'National Information Systems', digital DRACS, the State Migration Service, and JSC 'Ukrposhta' with support from Swiss-Ukrainian EGAP Program, implemented by East Europe Foundation.
