Online Marriage turns two: over 75 thousand couples have used the service

On 9 September, two years passed since the launch of Online Marriage. During this time, over 75 thousand couples have used the service.

The service makes it possible to complete the entire process online — from application submission to a ceremony via video conference. For this purpose, newlyweds do not need to visit a Civil Status Registration (DRACS) office in person. Today, nearly 40% of new marriages in Ukraine are registered online.

Over the two years, the service was scaled up: 89 registrars were involved in conducting online ceremonies. Initially, they were conducted only by registrars of the Kyiv digital DRACS office. Later, registrars from Dnipro and Lviv joined the service.

In September 2026, another service became available online — dissolution of marriage for spouses without joint minor children. A couple can submit an application and complete the entire process remotely.

Digital services are implemented by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine with support from Swiss-Ukrainian EGAP Program, implemented by East Europe Foundation.
