Mriia.Preschool: educational ecosystem to launch in kindergartens in six regions
The state educational ecosystem Mriia will expand to preschool education. Soon, piloting of Mriia.Preschool will begin in six regions of Ukraine, supported by the Swiss-Ukrainian EGAP Program, implemented by East Europe Foundation and UNICEF. The new direction will help simplify daily processes in kindergartens, reduce paperwork, and improve communication with parents and caregivers.
The ecosystem will be piloted in Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Forty preschool education institutions will participate in the testing. After the testing is completed, Mriia.Preschool will become available to all kindergartens in Ukraine.
"One of the key areas of the Ministry of Education and Science's work in the field of preschool education is reducing paperwork and unnecessary bureaucracy. Mriia.Preschool should become a convenient tool for automating organisational and management processes. For its part, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is working on attracting funds to purchase technical equipment for kindergartens, in particular within the LEARN for Preschool programme," noted Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.
Kindergartens will test how Mriia.Preschool works: digital journals, profiles of children and groups, tools for tracking attendance, lesson planning, and communication with parents.
"The pilot will cover 40 preschool education institutions — from mountain villages to large cities and frontline regions. We will verify how the functionality works, refine it, and prepare it for launch across Ukraine. It is important that all tools simplify the work of educators and free up time for teaching and raising children," said Dmytro Yakovlev, product manager of the preschool direction at Mriia.
Parents will receive educators' observations and information about how their child spent the day at the kindergarten, including what they learned, walks, and other activities, in a convenient way.
"Data shows that early childhood education and care lay the foundation for lifelong learning, health, and productivity. It is also one of the most effective investments a country can make in its future to develop and strengthen human capital," said Shamiza Abdulla, Deputy Representative of UNICEF in Ukraine.
Mriia will be free for kindergartens, educators, and parents, and will not require funding from local budgets.
"From the very beginning of Mriia's implementation, we have seen the great potential of this ecosystem for Ukrainian education. Today, Mriia is already working in every fourth school in Ukraine, and now this experience is expanding to preschool education. For us, it is important to support solutions that make the educational system more convenient, modern, and friendly for both educators and parents," noted Victor Liakh, President of East Europe Foundation.
Preschool education institutions interested in connecting to Mriia can already submit an application on the website: https://mriia.gov.ua#preschool.
Mriia is an initiative of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, implemented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine together with EGAP Program implemented by East Europe Foundation and supported by Switzerland. Mriia.Preschool is supported by UNICEF in Ukraine in partnership with the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) through the German Development Bank (KfW).
