Electronic medical residency allocation: over 95% of graduates secured their preferred placements
The main stage of this year's medical residency allocation has concluded, involving graduates in Medicine, Paediatrics, Medical Psychology, Dentistry, and Pharmacy. For the second consecutive year, the process took place automatically in the electronic ranking allocation system.
The electronic system processed 12,196 applications from 2,476 graduates.
Future medical residents were allocated according to a ranking based on their academic performance. Each applicant could submit up to five applications, selecting a specialty, region, and medical residency base — a university and a healthcare facility. The higher the ranking, the greater the chances of securing a preferred placement. This year, the highest score was 196.7, and the lowest was 134.6.
The largest number of graduates were allocated to institutions in Kyiv city (451), Lviv (282), Dnipropetrovsk (198), Kharkiv (182), and Kyiv (157) Oblasts.
The most popular specialties were:
- internal medicine (454)
- surgery (356)
- anaesthesiology and intensive care (282)
- general practice – family medicine (234)
- neurology (182)
During the main stage, 95% of graduates received the placement of their choice. Those who were not allocated will participate in the second stage on 6 July.
The electronic medical residency allocation system was created on the Diia.Engine Platform with support from the Swiss-Ukrainian EGAP Program, implemented by East Europe Foundation.
