3.5 million students will be able to study modern IT on Diia.Education
To help children build relevant digital skills from an early age, the Ministry of Digital Transformation has updated the school informatics course. It is now available as a dedicated module on Diia.Education. Thanks to the “Updated Informatics — IT Studios” project, more than 3.5 million students can access modern learning content — no matter where they live or how they study.
IT Studios offer ready-to-use interactive lessons, practical tasks, and up-to-date content. The platform provides useful tools for everyone involved in the learning process.
For teachers:
-
ready-made educational materials;
-
planning tools;
-
assigning and grading tasks;
-
analytics to track class progress.
For students:
-
a simple, intuitive interface;
-
explanations and animated videos;
-
the ability to create their own digital products — programs, visual stories, interactive models, and more;
-
instant feedback on their work.
For parents:
-
access to their child’s results through a personal dashboard;
-
a clear view of progress;
-
up-to-date digital skills for their children, without searching for additional resources — everything is already on the platform.
The materials cover grades 1–11. Lesson topics include digital literacy, computational thinking and programming, data analysis and modelling, artificial intelligence, and online safety.
“56% of Ukrainians already consider digital skills important for life, and 59% of adults associate digital literacy with better professional and financial opportunities, according to the new 2025 study on digital and AI literacy. We updated the school informatics module — IT Studios — so students can start building tech solutions from a young age, confidently use AI, and grow in a direction where Ukrainians are already setting global trends,” said Valeriia Ionan, Adviser to the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine on innovation, digitalisation, and global partnerships.
The pilot of “Updated Informatics — IT Studios” started in September 2022. It included 50 schools from cities, regional centres, towns, and villages, selected from 405 applications. In total, 70 teachers and more than 3,000 students from 180 classes took part.
According to the pilot results, 95% of teachers are ready to recommend IT Studios to colleagues, and the materials replace 70–100% of traditional textbooks — especially for distance and blended learning.
“The fast pace of technological development requires education to evolve constantly. Updated IT Studios allow students not only to develop digital skills but also to create technological solutions, experiment, and feel confident in the digital world. At the same time, teachers get ready-made materials, interactive lessons, and simple tools for planning and assessment, which significantly simplify teaching and the integration of new technologies. We are grateful to our partners for their support — together we can prepare a generation ready for innovation and a digital future,” said Dmytro Zavhorodnii, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine for digital development, transformation, and digitalisation.
IT Studios are already being integrated into school curricula across Ukraine. They are available to everyone on the dedicated Diia.Education module: it-osvita.diia.gov.ua
"Updated Informatics — IT Studios’ shows how innovative and practical digital education can be scaled nationwide and made accessible to millions of children. Together with our partners, we remain committed to building a modern digital ecosystem where young Ukrainians can gain skills that drive innovation, resilience, and sustainable development. We are honoured to contribute to this initiative under EU4DigitalUA, helping students build digital and AI competencies that will shape their future — and the future of the country,” said Miguel Ángel Lombardo, FIAP Coordinator of the EU4DigitalUA project.
“Strong digital skills today mean a competitive economy tomorrow. That is why we consistently support the development of education and the modernisation of learning — so that every child, regardless of where they live, has access to up-to-date knowledge and can grow in a world where digital competencies are becoming essential for success,” said Victor Liakh, President of East Europe Foundation.
The Updated Informatics initiative is implemented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine within the EU4DigitalUA project, funded by the European Union. The lessons were updated with support from the Foundation for International Administration and Politics (FIAP). IT Studios are a module of Diia.Education, supported by the Swiss–Ukrainian EGAP Program, implemented by East Europe Foundation. The platform was upgraded in 2023 on the initiative of the Ministry of Digital Transformation with support from Google.org.
