Electronic historical archive
Social project aims to develop an electronic database of the archival funds of Ukraine. The project will last 5 years with prospects for further development and extension. The initial phase is to create a database from the funds containing genealogical information: church registers, population censuses, recruit lists, official records of births, deaths and marriages, etc.

Е-environment which will provide Ukrainian communities with tools for monitoring, control and exchange of positive experiences as well as will create conditions for constructive competition as fundamental motivating factor for implementation of changes.
The competition had several stages: announcement of competition in the regions and determining the most priority topics for ІТ-solutions development. Almost 70 applications were submitted for the competition. During the summer, within the framework of 4 creative weekends there were held presentation of the projects and selection of the winning ideas which were further refined in cooperation with mentors over the two-month incubation before the final presentation on the national stage. The contribution made by business partners to the challenge involves the provision of company products and services, expert support, and mentoring. The project partners are leading IT companies, including IBM, Cisco Systems, De Novo, Intel. Consequently, their involvement in training and provision of their own technologies and services for challenge participants ensures the creation of new and innovative IT tools for e-democracy. Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Lutsk, and Odesa regions are pilot platforms of the challenge. The contest was held according to the methodology created with the assistance of the experts of the British Open Data Institute.
EGAP CHALLENGE is one of the initiatives within the program “The Electronic Governance for Government Accountability and Community Participation” (EGAP) which is being implemented by the Eastern Europe Foundation, Innovabridge Foundation, the State Agency on Electronic Governance and partners with support from the Swiss Confederation. The program is intended to apply modern information and communication technologies (ІCТ) that will help improve the governance quality, facilitate interaction between the government and citizens and promote social innovations in Ukraine.
